Tai Ping Hou Kui
Tai Ping Monkey King or Monkey
Chief, is planted in Tai Ping country
in Anhui, China. It is one of China's
Most Ten Famous teas. It has won
many awards, the most recent being
the "King of Tea" award in China Tea
Exhibition 2004. Tai Ping Monkey
King is one of the national presents
for the foreign leaders by Chinese
central government.
The Tai Ping Monkey King we supply
presents itself as large, broad,
perfectly flat green leaves of an
unparalleled caliber. Merely opening
the foil bag, inhaling the scent of the
Green Teas
dry leaves and admiring their lustrous deep emerald colour would be a truly awesome experience of any of us.
The downy bud is enfolded by two broad leaves. The greenish leaf vein, with hidden red colour, is so called
“red string”.
The taste is wonderfully complex. Nutty at first sip and the sweetness of this tea slowly reveals itself as you
continue to drink it. The juicy green liquor comes with a light and slightly fetid orchid fragrance which lingers in
the tea flavour. The liquor also has a lingering, sweet aftertaste with a hint of flowery overtones. The infused
leaves are soft, almost silky, and glistening. The fresh and mellow taste comes with high pure aroma which is
known as "monkey rhyme."
The tea leaves were picked only in early spring.
They are fully hand-crafted and truly a sensational
work of art. Huge and flat tea leaves with criss-cross
pattern on them. The shape is like the tip of a spear
and part of the stems are reddish in color. As the
area for these tea trees grow is limited, the quantity
produced and supplied for each year is quite small
and greatly limited to season.
To prepare Tai Ping Monkey King, use a large pinch
of tea per cup, the leaves will collapse like spinach
when water is added. Water temperature should be
80º, steep 2 minutes. Re-steep as desired.
Storage: Care shall be taken to avoid sunlight and
storing in damp and high temperature places.
